What to Do When a Website Rejects a HEIC Upload

Fix HEIC upload errors on forms, portals, CMS tools, and profile photo fields by creating a JPG or PNG copy in the browser.

Why upload forms reject HEIC

Many forms are built around older image assumptions. Even if your phone creates a valid HEIC photo, the website may only allow .jpg, .jpeg, .png, or .pdf.

This happens on profile photo forms, support tickets, insurance claims, school portals, document uploads, and older CMS image fields.

Convert a copy, not the original

The safest workflow is to keep your original HEIC file and create a compatible copy:

  1. Open the HEIC file in the browser.
  2. Confirm the preview is the correct image.
  3. Download JPG when the form asks for JPEG or ordinary photos.
  4. Download PNG when the form accepts PNG and you want a lossless copy.

Privacy considerations

Upload rejections often involve sensitive images: receipts, IDs, invoices, property photos, legal evidence, or medical documents. A browser-side conversion flow reduces unnecessary exposure because the selected file does not need to be uploaded to a third-party converter before it reaches the actual destination.
